Holocaust Survives  


Not many people that survived the Holocaust and only a hand full of those are still alive today.  I am lucky enough to know two brothers that were in the holocaust together and they did every thing they could to stay together.  Not many people had the hope of doing that, staying with the ones the loved they just gave up hope and died.  Not these brothers they stuck together all these years and are still together today.  They both started out in the same camp but unfortunately got separated to two different camps.  They finally found each other at a camp.  They refused to separate from each other even though they did not really have the choice they found a way of doing it.

One story

They have many stories that are quite amazing in fact they had an offer to write a book about their adventures.  Here is one of their stories.  Once the two brothers found each other in a camp they stayed as close to each other as possible not letting anything block their way.  One day while they were lined up like they were supposed to the Nazi announcer called one of the brothers numbers.  The people that were called were going to be put to death, the brothers knew this.  The older one could not let his little brother get murdered so they they turned his coat inside out and when the man came out to retrieve him they told him he wasn't the man they were looking for.  This is just one of their amazing stories.

Ghettos

 Where They Came From

The ghetto was not a Nazi invention. Its origins can be traced back to medieval times, when restrictions on the places where Jews were allowed to stay were common throughout Europe.  Mostly this form of separation was used on only towns, but in some rare cases it applied to countries to.  This sometimes gave problems to the people of the town.  Judaism is a very complicated religion with many different ways to worship their god.  In a ghetto the ways they might be braking their religion because of the different types of Jews living there.  This would make people a little uncomfortable.  

What it Turned Into     

What the Nazis did to the idea of the ghettos was very cruel.  They took an idea that was meant to make people happy and made it a place of sorrow.  They turned the place into a jail of sorts, a jail that confined the Jewish people and cut off their connection with the world around them.  They made it so all the people were poor and they were begging for money.  The ghetto was a very bad place to be.  If you lived back then you would not want to be in a ghetto.
