The holocaust and me

How I Learned...

An event that happened decades ago still has an impact on us today: The holocaust. I started being passionate about the holocaust around age 8. when I first heard about it I was horrified. As I went to school that fall I asked if we were going to learn about the Holocaust. To my surprise, a few kids behind me who were listening asked what the holocaust was.  I didn't think they would not know what the holocaust was.

I tried to explain what it was but I was lost for words. So I did some research and found out a lot of things. In my synagogue there are a couple of holocaust survivers. So I asked to hear there stories. They were horrible, daring, adventures, and more. I'm not related to any holocaust suvivers and luckily all my relitives escaped. Therefore an event that is history is not actually history. It is something that has an impact on the way we think, feel, and act towards eachother every day.

    I knew a little about this topic.It's very sad what Hitler did to a lot of people.What continents where involved?

    i love the subject of the holocaust, i don't like what Hitler was aiming to do, but i think it was a clever choice to pick such a topic. where do you think you would do in this situation of a child dealing with the holocaust?

    i am also interested in the holocaust. it was terrible what Hitler did to the Jews. i could not imagine being in that situation as a child.

    rocksquare, thanks. The holocaust was part of WW2. so when WW2 ended so did that holocaust.

    Jackie and emily, That is a very interesting question that you asked. what would most likely happen is that I would be seperated from my family with no contact at all. Me personally, I would try to be brave and find my family. that would be extremely hard. However i know two brothers that did just that.
    They tried to stay together but failed to do so. they were separated into two different concentration camps. Fortunately, they got transferred to the same camp and were liberated.

    Ben, I am very interested in the Holocaust too. I have watched movies and read books but i never met anyone who survived. I cant wait to read more about the Holocaust on your blog. How many people did you meet that survived the Holocaust?
